Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant PRN to assist pathologists in surgical pathology services and specimen handling. The role requires independent work under supervision and supports grossing and histology processes.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s in Pathologists’ Assistant preferred) and ASCP certification is beneficial; 1–2 years of pathology/lab experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s in Pathologists’ Assistant preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred or 3–5 years grossing experience.

Responsibilities

• Organize and streamline workflow in frozen section and gross examination areas.
• Collaborate with on-site Pathologists to determine grossing priorities.
• Diktate gross findings and refer tissue sections for microscopic review.
• Maintain records of dissections and dictations for reports.
