Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Tech II for the Jersey City Medical Center to work full-time in the Operating Room. Responsibilities include collaborating with surgical teams to provide individualized patient care, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring physiologic responses are monitored during surgery.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, complete a Surgical Technician program, and possess 2-3 years of relevant experience. Competitive benefits included.

Job Title: OR Tech II

Location: Jersey City Medical Center, 355 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302

Department: Operating Room

Scheduling: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm; every other weekend and holiday; full time

Pay Range: $31.41 – $38.42 per hour

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age‑specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patients’ physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program
• 2–3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls, be flexible, able to multitask and work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
