Job summary

VCU Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician - OR to provide age-appropriate, direct patient care under RN direction. You will assist in transfers and positioning, uphold safety and infection control, and support the surgical team with sterile field management.

Experience in healthcare is preferred; High School diploma or equivalent is required with CNA and BLS certifications preferred. This role is based in the OR with full-time hours and hospital benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• AHA BLS HCP certification required or equivalent.
• Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Completion of foundations/clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct care to patients and monitor conditions.
• Assist in OR transfers and patient positioning under RN direction.
• Deliver care per nursing plans and hospital policy.
• Maintain safe, clean, stocked locations and manage supplies/equipment.
• Prepare supplies and equipment for procedures; transport and manage sterile instruments.
• Complete daily safety checklists for assigned areas.
• Support patient experience by accurate identification and reporting concerns to caregivers.
• Attend mandatory trainings and participate in safety initiatives.
