Job summary

Tennessee Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant Scheduler to support a multidisciplinary surgical team in oncology care. The role emphasizes clinical coordination, pre/post-operative instructions, and timely communication with patients and families.

Responsibilities include coordinating admissions, discharges, follow-ups, and interdepartmental scheduling across infusion, radiation, pathology, and surgical teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within 90 days
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or 6 months MA experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures
• EMR proficiency (prefer eCW) and Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Assist with in-office oncology-related procedures under providers' direction.
• Coordinate hospital admissions, discharges, and follow-up appointments with surgeons/NPs.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations for oncology-related procedures and imaging.
• Upload and maintain documentation in scheduling platforms and calendars (eCW, Outlook).
• Communicate treatment plans and next steps to patients and families.
• Travel to other TSC sites as needed.
