Job summary

Tennessee Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct, safe patient care under the direction of the MD/NP/PA and supervision of an LPN/RN. Responsibilities include rooming patients, updating EMR, handling medications, and assisting with procedures.

Qualified candidates will have a Medical Assistant training background, recognition of HIPAA/OSHA standards, and strong communication and customer service skills. This is an on-site role within the Tennessee Oncology clinics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant Training Program or 6 months recent MA experience required.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA).
• Current TO approved BLS provider card within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Measure height/weight and vital signs; screen for pain, distress, and depression.
• Escort patient to exam room and complete rooming process.
• Review and verify medication lists and allergies in EMR.
• Enter/update EMR at each encounter.
• Review prescriptions/refills and manage under provider supervision.
• Call in prescriptions/refills according to TO policies.
• Communicate lab results and instructions to patients under supervision.
• Assist with telephone triage under approved protocols.
• Assist with provider procedures and act as chaperone as needed.
• Stock exam and treatment rooms; maintain supplies and equipment.
