Job summary

The University of California, Irvine Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner 2 in the Department of Surgery to manage inpatient care for surgical patients at our Irvine campus. This role emphasizes independent, team‑oriented practice with collaboration across surgical services.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Current, active, unrestricted California RN license.
• Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
• Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• NP National Board Certification (AGACNP‑BC or ACNPC‑AG).
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate inpatient care for surgical patients.
• Perform consults and inpatient evaluations and create treatment plans.
• Rounding and communication with surgery teams and residents.
• Involve in resuscitations from ED and ICU.
• Coordinate procedures and follow-up, admissions and discharges.
• Triage phone calls and review labs; obtain histories; daily exams.
• Assist in operating room with RNFA credentials where applicable.
