Job summary

UC Irvine Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner 2 to join the Department of Surgery. The role centers on managing inpatient surgical care, coordinating consultations, rounds, and hand-offs, and ensuring high-quality multidisciplinary collaboration at our Irvine location.

Candidates must hold California RN and NP licenses, have an NP certification (AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG), DEA registration, and NPI, with BLS/ACLS/PALS. Primary focus on trauma-informed, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
Must demonstrate customer service skills and professional communication.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare medical reports and progress notes.

Responsibilities

Manage inpatient care of surgical patients, mainly at a new hospital in Irvine, CA.
Perform inpatient consults and hand-offs at shift changes.
Round with surgery teams and residents; coordinate procedures and admissions.
Triage calls, review critical labs, and maintain comprehensive medical histories.
Provide trauma-informed patient care and ensure PHI privacy compliance.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for care coordination and discharge planning.
