Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Surgery to coordinate inpatient care for surgical patients at a new Irvine hospital. The NP will evaluate care, order diagnostics, create treatment plans, and lead multidisciplinary care coordination.

The role includes rounds, hand-offs, admissions/discharges, and collaboration with operating room teams and RNFA-certified surgeons. Licenses and credentials in California are required along with BLS/ACLS and 2+ years of NP experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of NP experience in surgical/acute care settings.
• Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Privileges prior to hire.
• Strong communication with diverse audiences and teams.
• Maintaining privacy and security of PHI.
• Proficiency in documenting medical records and reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct consults and inpatient care for surgical patients across multiple services.
• Assess patients, order diagnostics, and create treatment plans.
• Perform daily physical exams and coordinate care plans.
• Participate in shift hand-offs and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and follow-ups.
• Collaborate with OR teams and RNFA-certified surgeons.
