Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (2A). This role covers 36 hours per week with 0.9 FTE, 6am-6:30pm shifts and rotating weekends.

Under RN supervision, you perform basic patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with ADLs, and ensure room cleanliness. A CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester completed and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Under supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
