Job summary

Trinity Health in Pontiac, MI seeks a skilled OR support technician to assist in surgical cases and manage sterile supplies. You will prepare and transport equipment, assist with patient positioning under supervision, and ensure strict aseptic techniques throughout procedures.

Experience with operating room instruments is preferred; candidate must pass probation and demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic technique and universal precautions.
• Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds.
• 180-day probation for new hires; 90-day trial for internal transfers.
• Experience with operating room instruments or OR environment preferred.
• Basic telephone and computer skills recommended.
• Excellent customer service oriented skills for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Assists operating room staff in facilitating surgical cases using preference cards.
• Assembles supplies for surgical cases and handles sterile supplies.
• Assists in sterile setup of operative room procedures and surgeons.
• Obtains, cleans and sets up equipment needed for surgery.
• Delivers specimens to the Pathology/Laboratory area.
• Performs cleaning and autoclaving of specialty instruments.
• Cleans and returns equipment to proper storage areas.
• Assists in patient transfer and positioning under supervision.
• Performs between-case cleaning within the OR Suite.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
