Responsibilities

• Assists OR staff in facilitating surgical cases using preference cards.
• Assembles supplies for surgical cases following sterile protocols.
• Assists nursing staff with sterile setup for procedures.
• Obtains, cleans and sets up equipment for surgery; handles complex gear.
• Delivers specimens to Pathology/Lab areas as required.
• Performs cleaning and flash autoclaving of specialty instruments.
• Cleans and returns equipment to storage areas.
• Assists in surgery by holding retractors and maintaining exposure.
• Prepares and transports patients safely with modesty maintained.
• Performs between-case cleaning per OR policy.
• Assists with patient transfer and positioning under nurse direction.
• Maintains carts, linen, solutions and gas tank inventory.
• Maintains supplies cost-effectively under supervision.
• Maintains surgical transport carts and inventories.
• Completes work orders and documents activities appropriately.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and attends in-service education.
• Performs additional duties as directed by supervisors/RN.
