CHRISTUS Health in Alexandria, LA seeks a Surgical Technician to prepare and pass instruments and supplies for procedures, maintain a sterile field, and support the surgical team under RN/Physician direction.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years of experience preferred, and BLS certification. Work schedule is 7 AM–7 PM, full-time, with emphasis on aseptic techniques and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience preferred.
• BLS required.

Responsabilités

• Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments and suture to the physician, and assists as directed by the physician.
• Uses the physician preference card as a starting point when pulling cases and setting up the OR.
• Ensures preference cards are kept up to date and complete.
• Works effectively as a member of the team caring for the patient.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices at all times.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Adheres to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and staff safety.
• Monitors and controls the surgical environment; maintains proper traffic flow and sanitation policies.
• Familiar with decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
• Adapts patient assessment and care to population-specific needs.
