Job summary

Boys Town in Omaha, NE is seeking a registered nurse to join the surgical unit for comprehensive pre-operative evaluations and patient education. You will collaborate with the care team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate perioperative care, and supervise LPNs while ensuring accurate documentation.

The RN will maintain Joint Commission readiness, participate in performance improvement, and provide education to patients and families.

Qualifications

• A registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school with a current state license required.
• CPR (BLS) certification required.
• ACLS certified within six months of transfer or hire required.
• PALS certified within six months of transfer or hire required.
• Prior working knowledge of using computer programs and electronic medical records required.
• On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed required.

Responsibilities

• Perform the pre-operative physical, cognitive, spiritual and psychosocial assessments.
• Formulate and revise plan of care as needed.
• Plan and deliver care based on patient age and development.
• Supervise LPN in direct patient care functions with charting sign-off.
• Assess patient/family understanding and educational needs; educate accordingly.
• Maintain Joint Commission readiness and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Provide patient care and education according to the patient population served.
