Job summary

Frankfort Regional Medical Center is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to join our dynamic team. The First Assistant plays a critical role in patient care during surgical procedures under the supervision of the Surgeon. Key responsibilities include preparing the operating room and ensuring instrument workability while assisting with tissue retraction and maintaining hemostasis.

Ideal candidates should possess current KY licensure or national certification as a Certified First Assistant, vocational training, and preferably one year of surgical assistant experience. Join us in providing exceptional care!

Qualifications

• Current KY licensure or National Certification as Certified First Assistant.
• One-year surgical assistant experience preferred.
• Competence in first assisting responsibilities in an OR.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and perform support duties during surgeries.
• Check instruments for workability prior to usage.
• Provide retraction of tissue and organs during procedures.
• Assist in maintaining hemostasis as directed by the surgeon.
• Respond to cardiac arrest or life-threatening events in the OR.
