Job summary

Ascension in Franklin, WI is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support the Surgical Services team. You will position patients, manage tissue exposure, and aid in achieving optimal operative conditions with precise retraction and hemostasis.

The role requires a high school diploma with relevant experience or an associate/technical degree, plus BLS certification and NBSTSA credentialing preferred. Three rotating days and 12-hour shifts are typical.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Assistant credentialed from NBSTSA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead surgical site optimization by positioning patients and using stabilizing equipment for access, safety, and comfort.
• Create a clear operative field through tissue manipulation and retraction for high-fidelity visualization.
• Execute advanced hemostasis techniques to maintain patient stability and wound site integrity.
• Support transition to recovery by closing body planes and securing drainage systems for wound healing.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare instrumentation and resources for efficiency and surgeon needs.
