Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Medical Information Technology with coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, ICD-10-CM coding.
• CPC or CCS-P certification required.
• 2–3 years of experience in a surgical practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for inpatient/outpatient charts with high accuracy.
• Identifies documentation gaps and queries providers as needed.
• Reviews records and ensures documentation supports procedures and diagnoses.
• Enter coded data into Epic accurately.
• Responds to coding questions and supports billing review processes.
• Keeps current with coding standards and AHIMA guidelines.
