Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to ensure complete financial processing for operative procedures. You will verify insurance coverage, obtain prior authorizations, and prepare/communicate estimates prior to service.

You will identify and collect prepayments, provide in-depth financial counseling, and establish payment plans, including sponsorship for uninsured patients. Independently maintains surgical calendars, coordinates OR time, and ensures seamless

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; three years of business/financial/physician practice experience required.
Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/10 diagnosis coding.
EPIC system knowledge preferred.
Four-year degree may substitute for two years of experience; associate degree may substitute for one year.

Responsibilities

Maintain and coordinate surgical calendars; optimize scheduled OR time to maximize charges.
Prioritize and post surgical cases; coordinate multiple special needs for each patients operative experience.
Act as key communicator among physician, patient, and payor to ensure a flawless process.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits; obtain prior authorizations; prepare, communicate and explain estimates.
Identify and collect prepayments; provide in-depth financial counseling; establish payment plans; arrange sponsorship for uninsured.
