Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team in Peoria, IL. The role supports surgeons as first or second assistant, with a focus on asepsis, patient safety, and efficient turnover of the OR.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology or related field.
• Surgical Technology certification or completion of approved program.
• Experience in lieu of formal education accepted.

Responsibilities

• Applies aseptic principles to maintain sterility in the OR.
• Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Initiates intraoperative behavior as first/second assistant.
• Maintains safe environment for patients and staff.
• Performs scrubbing duties as needed and assists in room turnover.
• Charges for equipment and supplies and assists in planning patient care.
