Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking an entry-level Surgical Assistant to support care for patients undergoing procedures under provider supervision. The role emphasizes learning and growth within a structured surgical team.

You will perform sterile technique, assist with instrument handling, and participate in universal protocol and patient safety initiatives while supporting the circulator and surgical team in a fast-paced environment in Ohio.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program (required).
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving per policy.
• Assists as first or second scrub on cases and supports sterile technique.
• Maintains instrument counts and handles specimens per policy.
• Protects patient information and participates in universal protocol procedures.
• Assists with OR case preparation and sterile field setup.
• Assists with patient positioning and draping; supports circulator as needed.
