Advocate Health Care in Libertyville, IL is seeking a certified Surgical Assistant to perform first or second assisting in the OR. Certification as Surgical Assistant and CPR are required; prior OR experience as a Surgical Tech is highly preferred.This full-time role involves on-call duties nights, weekends, and holidays, manual lifting up to 35 pounds, and maintaining a sterile operating room while supporting the surgeon and team.
Qualifications
Certification as Surgical Assistant is required.
CPR Certification is required.
Previous OR experience as a Surgical Tech is highly preferred.
Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, waste and chemicals, radiation, hazardous materials, anesthesia gases and life threatening diseases.
Ability to work in high-stress environments and respond quickly to emergencies.
Responsibilities
Functions as Surgical First or Second Assistant for operative procedures.
Assist in gathering supplies, preparing the room, and draping the patient.
Maintain sterile OR environment using aseptic technique.
Ensure that equipment and supplies are available and functional.
Assist in training Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants.
On-call availability including nights, weekends, holidays.
Must work in high-stress environments and respond quickly to emergencies.
Recognize needs across age groups and adjust care accordingly.
