BluePearl in Reno, NV is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant for our Surgery Department. The position offers a starting pay band of $18.45–$25.30 per hour with advancement through CareerTrax and additional shift differentials for nights and weekends.

As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will provide nursing care, monitor vital signs, assist with IV fluids, and maintain sterile technique while supporting clients in the exam room and helping the team deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Provides nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards.
• Performs physical exams and vitals checks.
• Communicates effectively with clients in exam room.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Disconnect/connect patients from IV fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy.
• Proficient in instrument and sterilization processing, prepping surgical cases and OR etiquette.
• Communicate effectively with clients in exam room environment.
