Job summary

Virginia Urology is seeking a Provider Support Specialist to schedule surgeries, imaging, and tests while ensuring quality patient care throughout the scheduling process. The role supports order entry, records gathering, and administrative tasks under physician supervision.

You will work with the Scheduling Manager to coordinate with centers and clinics, educate patients, and help maintain smooth, timely care pathways. Excellent communication and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of experience in patient registration or clerical/administrative role in a medical setting.
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and empathetically with patients and family.
• Thorough understanding of scheduling policies and physician constraints.
• Ability to manage multiple duties concurrently and meet scheduling demands.
• Excellent patient-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule tests, diagnostics and procedures per orders, availability and patient preference.
• Determine required medical clearances based on procedure and patient history.
• Confirm information is available to the surgical team to perform procedures on schedule.
• Convey necessary information to facilities prior to procedures accurately and timely.
• Educate patients about upcoming procedures and preparation instructions.
• Monitor physician schedules to anticipate workload changes and absences.
• Gather information from multiple sources for patient visits.
• Enter surgical, procedural and imaging orders under supervision.
• Track lab and imaging tests and report results to providers.
• Impact patient satisfaction by avoiding delays due to prep issues.
• Perform other duties supporting clinical excellence and operations.
