Job summary

Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center-Citrus Park in Tampa, FL is hiring a Surgery Scheduler. This role supports daily scheduling, coordinates with physicians, OR staff, and anesthesia to ensure efficient procedures and accurate patient information.

The candidate should have 2–4 years of hospital or medical office experience, excellent customer service, and strong medical terminology. The position emphasizes professional presentation and effective communication in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Sets priorities and organizes work.
• Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information, including OR, GI lab, and 23-hour stay arrangements.
• Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
• Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
• Verifies information entered into the system (name, DOB, gender, insurance).
• Ensures all necessary paperwork for any patient is received by staff.
• Communicates schedule changes to appropriate staff.
• Ensures all required fields in Advantx are completed.
• Works closely with OR director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
• Alerts administration when new doctors or procedures are scheduled.
• Cross trains with other areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Completes consents and submits to the chart builder.
• Promotes positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and nursing staff.
