Description

Job Summary

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for all aspects of the surgical scheduling process, including surgeries, in-office procedures, follow up appointments and appropriate medical clearance. Please note, travel to additional APC clinic locations will be required and mileage reimbursement will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Schedules patients for surgery and completes necessary paperwork
  2. Confirms patient demographics , surgery date and time and medical diagnosis
  3. Reviews instructions with patients prior to surgeries, including medications, allergies, labs, health history, pre-op and post-op treatment plans
  4. Gathers insurance information to confirm coverage and benefits
  5. Ensures all paperwork is complete and on file for patients’ surgeries, including consent forms
  6. Answers and responds to all incoming telephone inquiries regarding surgery
  7. Schedules patients for follow-up appointments and other health assessments
  8. Monitors surgery schedule and works directly with physicians to coordinate appointments
  9. Coordinates medical clearance when necessary
  10. Has regular and predictable attendance
  11. Adheres to all Advanced Pain Care policies and procedures
  12. Completes other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; one year of prior surgery scheduling experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred.

Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, insurance verification, medical terminology and surgical procedures. Outstanding customer service and communication skills a must.

Working Conditions

Environmental Conditions:

  • Medical Office environment

Physical Conditions:

  • Must be able to work as scheduled- typically Monday thru Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged period of time
  • Duties involve moving materials, weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Required eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc.
