Job summary

HCA Healthcare's Radiation Oncology-Corpus Christi is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to provide clerical support and ensure timely, high-quality patient care in a busy oncology practice.

You will obtain CPT/ICD-10 codes, prepare notices, coordinate OR scheduling, authorizations, and fees, and work with providers and facilities to streamline the daily schedule. This role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum (1) year of experience in a medical office setting highly preferred.
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: BLS may be required as per practice standard.

Responsibilities

• Obtain CPT and ICD-10 codes and other clinical information from practice staff.
• Prepare documentation for Notification of Non-covered Medicare Services or Advance Beneficiary notices to patients.
• Determine OR time needed for the procedure and coordinate with Facility for scheduling and anesthesia coverage.
• Ensure scheduling packets are correct and timely.
• Obtain patient face sheets from Insurance Verification to obtain necessary authorizations based on insurance types.
• Obtain authorization notes from Facility and scan into medical record or practice management system.
• Collect physician and practice fees associated with the procedure.
• Verify physician credentialing at the Center or Facility before scheduling the patient.
• Coordinate provider clinic and Facility schedule and awareness of provider time-outs and meetings.
• Refer conflicts and procedural questions to Practice Manager or designee.
• Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
• Cross-train as back up to other business office positions as requested.
• Maintain surgery logs or other required practice or case tracking logs.
