Job summary

Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area is seeking a PRN RN for Day Surgery to join our busy OR team. You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, educate families, and prepare patients with IV therapy and medications, ensuring site verification and adherence to universal protocols.

You will work with surgeons, techs, and nursing staff to deliver safe, evidence-based care, manage changes, and participate in continuous improvement of surgical workflows within a respected HCA Healthcare facility.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of employment.
• Day Surgery experience preferred.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in nursing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding procedures.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Verify surgical site according to policy.
• Participate in time-out, briefing and debriefing processes.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of providers and staff.
• Document patient condition and care provided thoroughly.
