Job summary

OrthoArizona is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate and schedule surgeries, communicate with patients, staff, and physicians, and ensure accurate medical records. You will manage calendars, arrange equipment and anesthesia, and support training of new staff in a fast-growing orthopedic group with multiple locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and records in patient charts.
• Coordinate equipment, surgical assistants, and anesthesia.
• Maintain and update physician calendars.
• Answer calls, screen messages, and return patient calls promptly.
• Update patient information and prepare surgical packets.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff.

As a Surgery Scheduler with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and records information in patient's medical record.
• Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
• Maintain and updates physician's calendars.
• Answer telephone, screens calls, clears voicemail, returns patient calls in a timely manner.
• Answer questions regarding patient's upcoming surgeries.
• Update patient information.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
• Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
