Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks a contingent Registered Nurse for the Pre-Post Op area. You will prep patients for surgery and teach families to discharge, ensuring safety and patient advocacy throughout the perioperative journey.
Responsibilities include direct nursing care, care planning, teamwork with surgical staff, and documentation per policy. Obstacles include rapid patient turnover and the emphasis on family-centered care.
Schedule: Contingent, Day Shift, Minimum 16 hrs./month. No nights, weekends or holidays.
Position: This position is in the Pre-Post Op area getting patients prepped and ready for surgery and then teaching and discharging the family home.
Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their surgical encounter, maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.
BSN, preferred. Associate degree, required with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio.
Current CPR certification, required.

May perform in the role of RN First Assistant as needed following successful completion of an accredited first assistant program.
