Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking an RN Surgery Circulator for Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. This full-time role features day shifts (8-hour shifts) and a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

You will prepare the OR, assist with patient prep, document perioperative info, and uphold strict infection control standards to ensure patient safety and smooth surgical flow.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required.
• BLS (AHA) certification required; maintains current.
• ACLS (AHA) certification required; maintains current.
• PALS (AHA) certification required; maintains current.
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience or on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, ensure cleanliness, and verify equipment functionality.
• Assist in preparing patient for surgery, verify identity and surgical site, position patient, complete pre-operative procedures.
• Document vital signs, medications, and other relevant details for the medical record.
• Maintain a safe, sterile OR environment by following infection control protocols and instrument handling procedures.
• Maintain a sterile environment and ensure proper handling of instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, ensure the cleanliness of the environment, and confirm that all required equipment is functioning properly
• Assist in preparing the patient for surgery, which may involve verifying the patient's identity and surgical site, helping to position the patient on the operating table, and ensuring that all necessary pre-operative procedures are completed
• Document pertinent information before, during, and after the surgical procedure, such as the patient's vital signs, medications administered, and any other relevant details for the patient's medical record
• Maintain a safe and sterile environment in the operating room by adhering to strict infection control protocols and ensure that all team members follow proper procedures for handling instruments and equipment

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

• Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
