Job summary

San Luis Valley Health is hiring a Materials Coordinator for the Surgery department. The role provides clerical support and handles acquisition and dispensation of surgical materials to peri-operative services.

Daily purchase requisitions and maintenance of logs are required, with emphasis on PAR level management, expiration date tracking, and coordination with Biomed for equipment status.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Computer and data entry skills.
• One year of equipment purchasing or peri-operative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process daily stock and non-stock item orders in the surgery department.
• Deliver daily items to all areas and manage PAR levels with expiry monitoring.
• Place orders for surgeon special requests (equipment, instruments, implants).
• Ensure all owned, leased, or trial equipment is checked and approved by Biomed.
• Generate purchase orders and cost breakdowns for items ordered.
• Maintain implant logs and inventory for implants.
• Coordinate repairs with Biomed and vendors to ensure prompt service.
• Order and maintain instruments and equipment for the department.
• Monitor supplies to ensure timely delivery of items.
• Research product options when regular items are unavailable.
• Assist with entering department charges in the charge master.
• Support department records for prompt reimbursement.
• Coordinate in-services for equipment use and training.
• Monitor equipment maintenance and service dates.
• Communicate with healthcare team members in person and by phone.
• Assist physicians and surgery staff with information and supplies.
