How you’ll contribute

ASurgery Managerwho excels in this role:The Surgery Manager role oversees multiple departments, providing strategic direction, managing subordinate leaders, and establishing long-term goals. The position requires strong independent judgment, discretion, and adaptability when handling complex decisions, confidential information, and non-routine matters. The role works closely with senior leadership, healthcare professionals, and external vendors and may function as a staff-level RN when needed to support clinical operations.

• Oversees daily Surgical Services operations and quality of patient care.
• Manages department budgets, resources, supplies, and equipment.
• Leads performance improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
• Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, leadership, and other departments.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and confidentiality.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Establishes objectives and organizational structure for Surgical Services and ensures alignment with hospital policies and strategic goals.
• Directly oversees the OR, PAT, Central Sterile Processing, Ambulatory Services, and Endoscopy departments.
• Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates surgical services staff, including nurses and technologists.
• Manages employee performance, including evaluations, promotions, salary adjustments, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
• Facilitates staff development, competency assessments, orientation, and clinical education while fostering a collaborative, professional work environment.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Additional requirements include:

• Current Alabama State Board Of Nursing license, BLS required; ACLS/PALS as applicable.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 14 days of hire.
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in which management skills have been demonstrated.
• Requires 2-3 years of surgery experience.

Schedule: Full-Time Day Shift M-F
