Job summary

The Manager, Clinical Research at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago provides leadership, strategic management, and administration for clinical and translational research.

It supervises the research staff in the divisional unit and serves as the key operation interface between funding agencies, SMCRI, the research team, and principal investigators. The role ensures compliance with FDA and GCP guidelines, oversees pre- and post-award activities, leads audits, and supports grant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and five or more years research experience required.
• Master’s degree and/or relevant research certification preferred.
• Expert knowledge of FDA and GCP Guidelines.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage simultaneous project plans and personnel.
• Strong analytical ability; ability to understand and interpret financial data; solid quantitative and qualitative skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a leadership role with clinical, business and administrative staff.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a clinical research leader to study procedures and provide guidance on complex protocols and projects.
• Oversees education and execution of responsibilities by research coordinators and staff.
• Establishes strategic plans, policies, and procedures to support the research program's goals.
• Disseminates critical updates from hospital and SMCRI to research teams in real-time.
• Assists investigators in identifying funding opportunities and manages grant/contract initiatives.
• Coordinates pre-award and post-award activities with RBO and OCCT for sponsored research.
• Facilitates contract negotiations and ensures proper accrual tracking and financial reconciliation.
• Maintains up-to-date document management and regulatory submissions across Lurie systems.
• Leads division meetings and sponsor study meetings/teleconferences; represents the program at external meetings.
