Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) in San Diego seeks a full-time Surgery Appointment Assistant/VA to enhance patient intake and streamline the Surgery service workflow. You will act as a primary contact for clients, collect histories and vitals, and ensure timely access to records for the surgical team.

Competenze

• 2–3 years in a veterinary hospital setting preferred; specialty or surgical experience is a plus.
• Comfortable obtaining patient histories, vitals, and intake information.
• Strong client service skills with clear, compassionate communication.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple appointments and priorities.
• Able to anticipate Surgery team needs and keep appointments flowing smoothly.
• Attention to detail in medical records, documentation, and client communication.
• Collaborative with doctors, technicians, assistants, and Client Care team.
• Positive, professional, and calm demeanor; compassionate and dependable.

Mansioni

• Receive and check in scheduled Surgery appointments and patients.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during intake.
• Obtain patient histories and confirm the reason for the visit.
• Document patient vitals and other intake information.
• Ensure medical records, imaging, lab results, and referrals are available.
• Coordinate efficient patient flow between lobby, exam rooms, and Surgery.
• Prepare patients and rooms for consultations, rechecks, and surgical appointments.
• Review client information and paperwork; present estimates and treatment plans.
• Communicate wait times, flow, and next steps to clients.
• Support medication preparation and client education as needed.
• Provide basic veterinary assistant support (xrays, sedation monitoring, etc.).
• Maintain accurate documentation in the patient medical record.
• Create an organized, compassionate experience from arrival onward.
