Job summary

V2X, Inc. is seeking a Surface Prep Technician for 1st shift at our Modernization and Sustainment site in Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on removing coatings and preparing surfaces to exact specifications, supporting secure and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include selecting appropriate abrasives, blending finishes, and inspecting parts to ensure conformity to drawings and tolerances. Relevant experience and ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.
• Thorough knowledge of metals, plastics, and other materials and how they react to surface prep operations.
• Knowledge of surface prep techniques, abrasive materials, coating removal methods, and blending techniques.

Responsibilities

• Removes coatings, excess material, and surface defects using revolving abrasive wheels, belts, and other specialized tools.
• Blends surface imperfections and coatings to achieve a uniform appearance.
• Prepares surfaces for subsequent processes, ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality.
• Smooths surfaces and produces specified finishes by using appropriate techniques and equipment.
• Selects abrasive materials, tools, and equipment according to material type, finish specification, and coating removal needs.
• Replaces worn abrasive materials and tools.
• Examines parts for finish acceptability and conformance to specifications.
