Job summary

V2X Inc is seeking a Surface Prep Technician for the 1st shift at our Indianapolis, IN site. The role focuses on removing coatings, blending finishes, and preparing surfaces for subsequent processes to ensure adhesion and uniform quality.

Responsibilities include selecting appropriate abrasives, inspecting finishes, and maintaining tools. Candidates should understand material reactions and be able to obtain a secret clearance as required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 0-2 years of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.
• Thorough knowledge of various types of metals, plastics, and other materials and their reactions to surface preparation operations.
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, abrasive materials, coating removal methods, and blending techniques.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

• Blends surface imperfections and coatings to achieve a uniform appearance.
• Prepares surfaces for subsequent processes, ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality.

• Selects abrasive materials, tools, and equipment according to the type of material, finish specification, and coating being removed.
• Replaces worn abrasive materials and tools.
• Examines parts for acceptability of finish and conformance to specifications.
