Job summary

Cargill is seeking a full-time equipment maintenance technician in the Town of Lansing, NY area. The role focuses on inspection, preventive and repair work on surface mobile equipment, material handling systems, and related machinery.

Candidates must be able to work varying shifts and environments, with PPE, and 18+ years old. Ideal applicants will have mechanical maintenance experience in industrial settings, basic computer skills, and the ability to read manuals and schematics.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written).
• Basic use of a computer.
• Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions with PPE.
• Ability to perform physical duties (lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, etc.).
• Mechanical maintenance experience in industrial or heavy equipment environments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair surface mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, trucks, service vehicles, and support equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hoists, winches, and associated systems.
• Maintain and repair material handling systems including conveyors, belts, gearboxes, and pumps.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs including component replacement and rebuilds.
• Operate forklifts and mobile lifts with minimal variation.
• Weld, cut, and fabricate where needed for guards and repairs.
• Read manuals, schematics, and work orders; document findings.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

Principal Accountabilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair surface mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, trucks, service vehicles, and support equipment
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hoists, winches, and associated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Maintain and repair material handling systems including conveyors, belts, pulleys, gearboxes, bins, chutes, pumps, crushers, and screens
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults and complete repairs including component replacement, adjustments, and rebuilds
• Operate forklifts and mobile lifts from designated locations with little variation
• Perform welding, cutting, and light fabrication on carbon steel and stainless steel for guards, supports, and equipment repairs
• Safely operate equipment to test functionality, reposition machinery, and verify completed repairs
• Conduct routine inspections and report unsafe conditions or equipment deficiencies
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, work orders, and maintenance documentation
• Coordinate with operations, contractors, and maintenance team members to minimize downtime
• Understanding and adhering to all safety policies and procedures
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship
• Must be 18 years or older
• Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
• Basic use of a computer
• Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Mechanical maintenance experience in industrial, mining, or heavy equipment environments
• Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or a minimum of two years of equivalent work experience
• Welding experience and strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience with material handling systems and mobile equipment
