Job summary

Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, seeks a Surety Underwriter to join our team in Walnut Creek, CA or other California offices. This role provides intermediate risk assessment and underwriting expertise to determine product acceptability, with responsibilities in submissions, producer management, and marketing activities to develop new business.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of commercial surety underwriting experience, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• At least two years of commercial surety underwriting experience preferably with a carrier.
• AFSB designation preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, generate new business and be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepares underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits.
• Participates in the producer management process including premium collections.
• Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions.
• Prepares and participates in marketing activities for business development and relationship building.
• Assists with gathering and analyzing information and applies underwriting techniques to evaluate risk acceptability.
• May ensure credit quality of accounts managed while maintaining and updating underwriting files.
