Job summary

PHLY Insurance Services Inc. is seeking a Surety Underwriter II for our Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, or Lone Tree, CO offices. Under moderate direction, you will underwrite and market property/casualty and professional liability products with intermediate risk assessment.

You will gather and analyze information, prepare submissions, negotiate terms, and support producers to develop new business, while maintaining underwriting files and credit quality within authority limits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; at least three years of contract surety underwriting experience.
• AFSB designation preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, generate new business, and be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites and markets assigned products with intermediate risk assessment.
• Prepare underwriting submissions and make recommendations within authority.

We have been in operation since 1962 and are nationally recognized as a member of Ward's Top 50 and rated A++ by A.M.Best. We are looking for a Surety Underwriter II to join our team in either our Seattle, WA, Portland OR, or Lone Tree, CO offices!

Summary

Under moderate direction and supervision, underwrites and markets assigned products by providing intermediate levels of risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine underwriting acceptability. A typical day will include the following: Assists with the preparation and participates in marketing activities within the region to promote the development of new business. Gathers and analyzing information, applies appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of acceptability of risk. May evaluate credit quality. Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions. May ensure credit quality of accounts managed while maintaining and updating underwriting files. Participates in the producer management process which may include, but is not limited to, premium collections. Prepares underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits. Minimum authority is $750,000 (Surety).

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree At least three years of contract surety underwriting experience preferably with a carrier. AFSB designation preferred. The ability to manage multiple priorities, generate new business and be detail oriented.
