Surety Senior Claims Professional Attorney

Zurich North America is hiring a Surety Senior Claims Professional (Attorney) to join our team! We are open to hiring talent located within the U.S. and this is a virtual, home-based position with no billable hours.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of moderate to high complexity Surety claims from start through settlement and resolution, within specific authority limits. You will ensure claims are handled efficiently to meet Zurich’s claims best practices and customer commitments. You will develop strong partnerships through extensive communication with principals, brokers, and internal contacts.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Analyzing coverage, liability, and damages
2. Participating in mediations and negotiating settlements
3. Drafting coverage and denial letters, underwriter notifications, etc.
4. Preparing case summary reports for significant reserve increases and trial prep
5. Directing activities of defense counsel

Travel up to approximately 25% may be required for site visits or other business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor and 5+ years of experience in surety legal area AND
• JD and 5+ years of legal practice in insurance

Must obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses

Experience in insurance claims and legal/regulatory environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Member of the bar
• Detail-oriented
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Compensation varies based on location, role, skills, and experience. The proposed salary range is $130,000 - $182,000, with a 15% short-term incentive bonus.
