Surety Senior Claims Professional Attorney

Zurich North America is hiring a Surety Senior Claims Professional (Attorney) to join our team! We are open to hiring talent located within the U.S. in a virtual, home-based office. There are no billable hours.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of moderate to high complexity Surety claims from start through settlement and resolution, within specific authority limits. You will ensure claims are handled efficiently and effectively, aligning with Zurich’s claims best practices and customer commitments. You will also develop strong partnerships through extensive communication with principals, brokers, and internal teams.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Analyzing coverage, liability, and damages
2. Participating in mediations and negotiating settlements
3. Drafting coverage and denial letters, underwriter notifications, etc.
4. Drafting case summary reports for significant reserve increases and trial preparation
5. Directing activities of defense counsel

Travel may be required up to approximately 25% for site visits or other business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor and 5+ years of experience in surety legal matters AND
2. JD and 5+ years of legal practice in insurance law
3. Must obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses
4. Experience in insurance claims, legal, and regulatory environments

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Member of the bar
2. Detail-oriented
3. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Compensation varies based on location, role, skills, and experience. The proposed salary range is $130,000 - $182,000, with a 15% short-term incentive bonus. Zurich offers comprehensive benefits and career development opportunities.
