Job description

Zurich North America is hiring a Surety Senior Claims Professional (Attorney) to join our team!
We are open to hiring talent located within the U.S. in a virtual, home-based office. There are no billable hours.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of moderate to high complexity Surety claims from start to settlement, within authority limits. Your goal is to handle claims efficiently, aligning with Zurich’s claims best practices and customer commitment. You will develop strong partnerships through extensive communication with principals, brokers, and internal teams.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Analyzing coverage, liability, and damages
2. Participating in mediations and negotiating settlements
3. Drafting coverage and denial letters, and notifying underwriters of claim issues
4. Preparing case summary reports for significant reserve increases and trial prep
5. Overseeing defense counsel activities

Travel is expected approximately 25% for site visits and other business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor and 5+ years of experience in surety legal work
• Legal practice experience in insurance law
• Must obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses
• Experience in insurance claims and regulatory environment
• Negotiation and customer service skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

• Member of the bar
• Detail-oriented with strong communication skills

Compensation varies based on factors like location, experience, and skill set. The proposed salary range is $130,000 - $182,000, with a 15% short-term incentive bonus eligibility. Additional rewards may include bonuses and merit increases.
