Job summary

Wesley Health Centers - JWCH Institute, Inc. seeks a Graveyard Support Staff member for a 31-bed residential program for women and children in South Los Angeles. The role requires a flexible, 24-hour schedule and a strong commitment to safety, confidentiality, and team collaboration.

You will support client intake, medication logistics, environmental checks, and daily activity coordination while maintaining professional boundaries and respectful care during night hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 31-bed residential facility during graveyard shift.
• Maintain professionalism, boundaries, and confidentiality.
• Prepare thorough shift reports and email daily to staff.
• Assist with medications, breakfast preparation, and meal service.
• De-escalate clients and support program staff as needed.
• Ensure safety and environmental checks throughout the shift.
• Complete daily program checklists and documentation.

Position Purpose

The Graveyard Support Staff position is located at a Residential Treatment Program for women and their children in South Los Angeles. This position must have a Flexible Work Schedule as needed for 24-hour residential program. The Support Staff is integral in ensuring clients follow program schedule and rules. This position upholds the JWCH mission to improve the health status and wellbeing of under-served segments of the population of Los Angeles County.

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for the care and oversight of 31 bed residential facility during graveyard shift.
• Is dependable, reliable and punctual.
• Maintains strong professional boundaries with clients and fellow staff.
• Demonstrates courtesy, mutual respect and compassion when dealing with others.
• Initiates and presents positive solutions to problems.
• Demonstrates effective working relations and works effectively as part of the team to facilitate the organization’s ability to meet goals and objectives
• Projects a positive professional image and adheres to organizational dress code.
• Will work collaboratively with treatment team to serve program clients’ needs.
• Communicates effectively with staff about needs of clients observed during graveyard shift.
• Prepare thorough shift report; send via email to staff daily.
• Responsible for administrative support to clinical, program and administrative staff.
• Responsible to support new client intakes (i.e. inventory new client’s property, prepare bed, and wash linen)
• Conduct urinalysis testing for client as needed and document.
• Maintains confidentiality of all documents that contain patient information.
• Approaches clients with dignity, respect and professionalism.
• Walk the property and facility regularly throughout the shift for environmental checks per schedule.
• Complete daily program checklist (i.e. repairs needed, room checks, environmental checks)
• Assist with making medications available to clients at designated times.
• Assist with breakfast meal prep, cooking and serving.
• De-escalate clients and situations.
• Remains awake throughout the night.
• Participate in mandatory training sessions.
• Ensures clients are awake by 6:30 AM and ready to participate in daily activities.
• Complete projects as assigned during graveyard shift.
• Discusses all patient information only with appropriate program personnel related to client care.
• Maintains standards of cleanliness, organization for work station, community room and other areas of use
• Completes addiction and cultural competency trainings effectively and efficiently, and other required trainings each fiscal year.
• Completes projects as assigned during graveyard shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the alcohol and substance abuse field.
• Knowledge of de-escalation skills.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of sobriety if in recovery.
• Computer skills (e-mail and Microsoft Programs).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good documentation skills.
• Ability to work within a team structure.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
