Job summary

Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, WA, is seeking a full-time Health Information Management Support Specialist II. The role supports the HIM team by performing clerical duties, data entry, and release of information to ensure timely, accurate patient records and compliant reporting.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of HIM experience, with hands-on training and opportunities for advancement in a community-focused hospital.

Position Description

Performs a variety of clerical support functions for the Health Information Management team.

Major Responsibilities

• Prepares records for release of patient information in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Maintains release of information and correspondence database
• Analyzes and assembles records
• Provides Quality Assurance/Improvement data gathering utilizing established criteria and data programs
• Performs analysis of healthcare records for adequacy and completeness of documentation
• Enters data into computer systems
• Prepares birth certificates
• Documents and transcribes reports
• Answers the phone and routes calls as appropriate
• Performs chart filing and retrieval functions

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• Minimum of six months experience as HIM Support Specialist I or two years previous experience in Health Information Management required.

Schedule

1.0 FTE; 40 hours/week; Day Shift (0800-1630)

This position will remain open until filled.
