Job Summary
The Support Specialist II, Grants provides advanced administrativesupport within The Water School for administrative, budget, andoperations activities related to grants. Functions as a resourcefor faculty and staff, and facilitates seamless processes to ensureadherence to deadlines and requirements. Provides oversight andmonitoring of grant awards, and assists with the execution of grantrelated work in compliance with award terms.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Oversees award activities for assigned portfolio of grants andcontracts within The Water School.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to create and fulfillschedules for deliverables. Partners with Principal Investigatorsto meet deadlines and complete required submissions.
- Assists in the administrative oversight of award budgets,record keeping, and report completion.
- Works closely with the Office of Research and SponsoredPrograms to ensure compliance, to troubleshoot issues related togrants and contracts, and to ensure adherence to policies andprocedures.
- Completes transfer requests, reconciles expendituretransactions, maintains internal accounting records, and othertransactional duties related to award administration.
- Fulfills purchasing requirements, enters information intouniversity systems, receives purchase orders, and reconcilespurchases. Reviews and monitors purchases to ensure compliance withgrant regulations.
- Provides transactional maintenance of funds and accounts.
- Serves as a liaison between faculty, staff, and sponsors toadvise on the preparation/submission of reports and data and reviewof documentation for compliance with University and awardguidelines.
- Composes and prepares written documents and correspondence,including memos, letters, presentations, and spreadsheets.
- Establishes and maintains systems for administration of recordsfor the area, including electronic files, records, anddatabases.
- Provides administrative support for the hiring of OPS andstudent employees to assist with post award work and projects.

Required Qualifications:
- This position requires a high school diploma and six years offull-time experience related to the job functions.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient withMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience,and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a relatedfield.
- Experience working in higher education.

- Knowledge of budget control principles, practices andprocedures.
- Knowledge of various funding agency rules and regulations asthey pertain to grant/contract administration.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communicationskills.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize andcomplete simultaneous projects when numerous and competing demandsare involved.
- Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency andlearn new applications and systems.
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, andreports.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff,faculty, students, and the community in a service-orientedenvironment.
- Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned andtimely decisions.
- Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team andindependently with minimal supervision.
