Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processing Team Lead for its PAML operation in Renton, WA. The role supports specimen accessioning, data entry, and high-throughput workflows in a fast-paced laboratory.

The Lead will supervise daily activities, ensure quality assurance, and drive process improvements while coordinating with management to maintain accuracy and efficiency in specimen handling and testing. Excellent communication is essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year or more experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the accessioning department.
  • Lead the team in daily processes and procedures.
  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
  • Oversee routing of specimens to prep areas.
  • Encourage process improvements and best practices.
  • Perform quality assurance checks for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Resolve production errors as directed by management.
  • Research and resolve production errors; escalate when necessary.
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements.
  • Enforce and manage policies and procedures.

PAML a Labcorp company is seeking a Specimen Processing Team Lead to join our team in Renton, WA.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00 pm to 1:30 am overtime and rotating weeks may be required

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the oversight of the day to day operations of the accessioning department
  • Help lead the team in their daily processes and procedures
  • Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Oversee routing of specimens to their respective prep areas
  • Encourage process improvements and best practices
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Resolve any production errors as requested by management
  • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Responsible for enforcing and managing policies and procedures
  • Perform administrative duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year or more experience in a clinical laboratory or Hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree
  • 1 year or more experience in AP or Histology specimen handling
Additional Job Standards
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Proficient computer and typing skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment

The Lead will be responsible for performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Pay Range: $23.50 to $29.00 per hour Plus Shift 2 Differential All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
