Job summary

Southeast Missouri Residential Services, a State of Missouri facility, seeks a Support Care Assistant to provide one-on-one care for consumers. The role requires experience with developmentally disabled individuals, a strong work ethic, and a passion for helping others. Shifts include 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

and 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., with overtime as needed. Must be at least 18, hold a valid driver’s license, and have a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of relevant care experience (substitutions may be allowed).
• Must pass Level One Medication Aide certification within one month.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Must pass background screening.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level direct care including feeding, bathing, bed making and related tasks.
• Participate in planned sessions of therapy activities in physical/education and related areas.
• Teach or assist clients in developing self-help, play, education and socialization skills.
• Assist in checking vital signs and maintaining basic health records.
• Observe, report and record changes in physical, behavioral, and emotional status.
• Maintain a safe, clean and therapeutic environment for care activities.
• Administer medications under supervision after certification by facility officials.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled; overtime as needed.
