Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's, three pain management/lithotripsy treatment rooms and CT scan radiology services. There are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.
TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.
TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.
The Supply Chain & Inventory Manager oversees the end-to-end management of medical inventory and logistics operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and cost-effective supply chain performance. This role is responsible for inventory control, product lifecycle management, vendor coordination, and staff supervision. The manager collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to forecast needs, implement process improvements, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Key duties include leading physical and cycle counts, managing product recalls and conversions and optimizing stock levels.
Description |
Analyze usage trends, identifying underutilized or obsolete items to be removed from inventory. Coordinate and execute the annual physical inventory, including pre-audit data validation, staff assignment, count reconciliation, and system entry, ensuring accuracy in the Inventory Cost Report. |
Process inventory adjustments for expired, transferred, damaged, or obsolete items in accordance with policy. Verify accuracy of inventory count sheets and reconcile discrepancies. Post completed procedures daily to maintain up-to-date inventory records. Generate and post monthly waste reports to track and analyze supply utilization. |
Identify and list surplus or unused supplies for resale on RevMed. Coordinate the removal and proper disposal of expired inventory items. Audit item master data for accuracy, including descriptions, locations, PAR levels, units of measure, cost, stock classification, and general ledger codes. Implement and maintain a routine cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy and accountability. |
Collaborate with department directors, senior leadership, and physicians to assess and fulfill product and supply needs. Oversee the receiving, storage, and internal distribution of medical supplies to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Provide leadership, training, and oversight to all supply chain staff to maintain operational excellence. Serve as the primary point of contact for clinical departments regarding supply chain issues, updates, and process improvements. |
Manage new product and equipment conversions, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows. Monitor and replace expired items in crash carts to maintain emergency readiness. Coordinate the response to supply and device recalls in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Evaluate and classify items as inventory or non-stock based on usage patterns and operational needs. Obtain consignment agreements for items being stored at TIS by vendors. |
Collaborate with Human Resources to review and update job descriptions to reflect current roles and responsibilities. Participate in candidate interviews alongside the Procurement Manager to support recruitment efforts. Attend weekly leadership meetings to align departmental goals and share operational updates. Approve bi-weekly payroll and PTO requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies. |
Education & Training: | Licenses / Certifications: |
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Related Business preferred. Masters Degree preferred. | APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), Six Sigma or Lean certifications, or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. |
Key Skills: | |
Experience: | Knowledge of healthcare purchasing, inventory management systems, procurement, supplies distribution/operations and contracting, capital equipment and automated systems. |
3-5 years of previous supply chain management experience required | Clinical knowledge of essential healthcare products. Excellent understanding of service line areas such as Orthopedic Implants highly preferred. |
Experience with cost and inventory reduction programs; group purchasing contract implementation and compliance, and project management preferred. | Must possess great problem-solving, team leadership, and organization skills, including the ability to effectively manage others and direct work. |
Experience analyzing & negotiating contracts required | Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills for effectively conveying purchasing information to vendors, staff, and executives. |
Experience using CPSI / Evident preferred | Strong negotiation skills with the ability to settle upon reasonable terms of contract with suppliers required. Great analytical skills to monitor supply levels, compare pricing and monitor budgetary goals. Ability to identify process inefficiencies and create improvement plans. |
Proficient in the Microsoft Product Suite. |
