Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Supplier Development Engineer to manage the quality, development, and validation of machining suppliers and to identify new suppliers using APQP and CPPD. You will lead problem-solving efforts on quality issues and drive continuous improvement across supplier quality and CPPD programs.

The role requires on-site work five days a week in East Peoria/Decatur, IL, with up to 40% travel. Relocation is not offered and sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Understanding and applying effective communication concepts; ability to present and write reports.
• Familiarity with problem-solving approaches and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of quality management methods and data-driven decision making.
• Experience in managing supplier relationships and performance in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supply quality by tests and assessments of incoming materials.
• Generate supplier quality reports and guide suppliers to reduce defect rates.
• Audit potential vendors and assess manufacturing environments and compliance.
• Support suppliers with process improvements and quality assurance plans.
