About the Position:

This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Military Community and Family Policy (DASW (MC&FP)), Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of War, Personnel and Readiness (USW (P&R)). This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes providing expert analysis on policies related to casualty, mortuary affairs, military funeral honors, and personnel accountability, developing policies and/or procedures for a large organization, reviewing and recommending improvements to casualty reporting and survivor notification procedures, analyzing legislation and regulations to determine their impact on organizational programs, providing guidance to leadership and representing the organization in inter-agency meetings, working groups, or on special projects, guiding the work of other analysts or team members on complex projects and managing program priorities to meet organizational goals, and coordinating services with funeral homes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
