The Dayton VA Medical Center is seeking a Chief, Sterile Processing Service (SPS). This role involves planning, directing, and managing all aspects of the SPS department, including decontamination, sterile preparation, non-biological implantable devices, reusable medical device reprocessing, and inventory control.
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities encompass overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, evaluating new products and equipment, strategic planning, supervising staff, and managing resources.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.
No certification is required for this position.
Grandfathering Provision: Current MSTs employed in VHA in this occupation are considered to have met all qualification requirements. Reassignment, promotion, or transfer within the occupation is permitted under this provision.
Foreign Education: Education outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a specialized organization to determine equivalency.
English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
One year of experience equivalent to GS-09 is required.

The full performance level is GS-10; applicants may be selected at this grade.
This role involves walking, standing, lifting moderately heavy items, and working in contaminated and clean environments. Protective clothing and hearing protection may be required. The work environment may be hot, humid, noisy, and odorous.
